A political leader in Imo North senatorial district of Imo state, Tony Chukwu, is set to challenge senator Godwin Araraume for the vacate seat of the zone in the Red Chamber.

In a recent APC meeting of the zone, Chukwu complained that the rivalry between Araraume, a former senator and Ikedi Ohakim, a former governor of Imo State, both from the zone, had underdeveloped the zone.

“Araraume Vs. Ohakim battle and personal interests have cost Okigwe zone so much. I personally decided not to support them or any election. Okigwe zone lost so much because of their personal war. Now Okigwe zone must move forward. It should not be Ohakim, Araraume or even me. We need the young crop of Okigwe to represent us at the Senate,” Tony Chukwu said.

Information on the grapevine suggests that the current governor of Imo State is not very comfortable with Senator Araraume’s ambition. Reports say the governor fears that Araraume may challenge him for the governorship of the state in 2023.

Ararume shouldnt be too pushy this time around, he has grown up sons for crying out loud. When will those boys contribute their own leadership quota in our nation building process. It is time for younger generation.
